CENOTE ANGELITA & CARWASH
Discover a supernatural diving experience in Cenote Angelita, where a unique phenomenon awaits: a hydrogen sulfide cloud suspended in the water.
At about 30 meters depth, you'll pass through this mystic cloud that resembles a river or lake suspended in the middle of the cenote. Petrified tree trunks emerge from this mist, creating a landscape worthy of a fantasy film.
This deep dive requires Advanced certification or equivalent and excellent air consumption management.
The atmosphere in Angelita is unique in the world. Light filtering from the surface creates a bluish halo above the sulfide cloud, while below reigns a mysterious darkness where only your torches pierce the shadows.
This cenote is a true journey through time: the tree trunks and dead leaves trapped in the sulfide layer date back thousands of years, perfectly preserved in this exceptional chemical environment.
Cenote Angelita is located about 1h10 from Playa del Carmen, on the road to Tulum. The route crosses dense jungle that showcases the natural richness of this Yucatan region.
Cenote Carwash - The second dive
To complete this day, we dive in Carwash Cenote (Aktun Ha), famous for its incredible light effects and surface water lilies. A perfect contrast with Angelita's mystic depth.
Cenote Carwash offers a more luminous and soothing dive. Its shallow waters allow you to admire sun rays that draw hypnotic patterns on the sandy bottom, while surface water lilies add a touch of green to this idyllic scene.
