Bacalar Excursion: The Lagoon of Seven Colors in Mexico

The Bacalar excursion is one of the most beautiful adventures in Quintana Roo. The Bacalar lagoon, nicknamed the "lagoon of seven colors," offers a breathtaking natural spectacle with its blue gradients ranging from crystalline turquoise to deep blue.

Located about 3.5 hours from Playa del Carmen, this Bacalar tour immerses you in authentic Mexico, far from mass tourism. The lagoon stretches over 50 km and is home to stromatolites, the oldest life forms on Earth, dating back 3.5 billion years.

Bacalar: A Pueblo Mágico You Must Discover

Bacalar is officially classified as a Pueblo Mágico (magical town) by the Mexican government, a label awarded to towns preserving exceptional cultural and natural heritage. With its colorful streets, Fort San Felipe, and Caribbean atmosphere, Bacalar is the best-kept secret of southern Mexico.

Unlike the northern coast of Quintana Roo (Cancún, Playa del Carmen), Bacalar remains untouched by mass tourism. It's the ideal place for a guided excursion in the heart of authentic Mexico, between turquoise lagoon and tropical forest.

Our Bacalar Lagoon Excursion with English-Speaking Guide

Our Bacalar lagoon excursion includes a 3-hour private boat tour on the lagoon, a visit to the mythical pirate channel, swimming in the Negro and Esmeralda cenotes, and the discovery of bird island. Breakfast and local meal are included.

On the agenda: snorkeling above the stromatolites, swimming in the crystalline waters of the lagoon, visiting Cenote Azul and Cenote Negro (the deepest in the region at 90 meters), and a relaxing break on white sand beaches. A guide accompanies you throughout the day.

The excursion is ideal for families, couples, and groups of friends. Bacalar is the perfect complement to your stay on the Riviera Maya and combines beautifully with a Chichen Itza excursion or our cenote dives.
